you know, I was expecting to have some sort of orientation before I actually started working with Majestic, right? I figured, I would have a sit-down with someone from HR, in which they review what my pay wage would be, what my benefits would be, etc. All they did do, was give me a packet of forms to be filled out and returned on Monday. Most people want to know how much they are going to be getting payed before they start working, right? Yeah!?? That way, you can decide if it is worth it or not. For the longest time, I have been feeling quite depressed working these hours. Plus, they are long days. 4pm till 3am...Mon-Friday, (was also working on saturdays as well)....I kept waiting to get layed off, but that never happened. They offered me a job, but never told me how much I would make. Here I thought I would get at least a dollar raise, right? I emailed and was calling all day, until finally, I got an answer:

Pay wage:

You will start at $9.00/hour.  Once you sign the union card and it gets turned into payroll, you will receive $9.35/hour. You are paid on a weekly basis.  VF is direct deposit only, so someone from payroll will come out and help you set up your tax and direct deposit information into Workday.

Vacation:

6 months – 1 year (employment), you will receive 5 paid days of vacation

1 year – 5 years (employment), you will receive 10 paid days of vacation

Bonus:

Is ½% of your earnings.  You won’t receive the bonus for 2016, but will be eligible in 2017.

Union dues:

Initiation fee is $30.00, which is a one time payment.  Union dues are $41.40/month.

Medical insurance is through the Union, so when you sign your Union card, please make sure the rep gives you all of the paperwork and answers any of your questions.  Any medical insurance questions will need to be directed to the Union.

Dental insurance is through VF and that packet was given to you in your handouts. 

I just wish I had obtained this information sooner...because...

well, since I am night shift I would actually be making more...9.85 a hour, but honestly, that isnt much for working those hours and for all the work I do.

I didn't have time to think much about it, but I told them I am not interested. 

I feel terrible. I just feel hopeless now. 

I also feel bad because I had friends. People were congratulating me at work, and on FB about this new job...now what?

i have no idea anymore. I didnt want to not work there. I asked if I can just stay working as a temp. They said that union laws have to offer me a job after a certain amount of time or they will have to let me go...

sigh....I do feel bad tho. I wish I had the time to think about it. 9.85 an hour....its not even 10.00 an hour!?? Everyone I talked too says that is not enough, for what we are doing? Yes, I feel bad, but tell your people how much there will be making instead of keeping it from them!???
